Commercial roof repair in North Phoenix / NorterraReroofing a commercial building in Phoenix goes through the City's Planning & Development Department. The City's reroofing permit application asks whether the job is a tear-off or a recover, the roof slope, whether the roof drains through drains or scuppers, the UL class rating of the new membrane assembly, and whether any electrical, plumbing, gas or HVAC work is being relocated or replaced. We gather those details during the assessment, handle the permit when the work needs one, and confirm current requirements with Planning & Development (602-262-7811).
Reflective roofs are part of how Phoenix manages heat. A December 2021 City of Phoenix memo on cool roofs says the City has used them on Public Works buildings since 2005, has coated more than 70,000 square feet of City property, and saw a 17% drop in energy use at participating buildings. The same memo notes that new commercial flat roofs are checked against a Solar Reflectance Index of 64 before plan review, so we specify white membranes and coatings with that in mind.
